There are lots of Gossips on the incentivization of Net metering, lets dig deeper.
No one can predict the future, but here are some facts:
• Even if the buyback rates become ZERO (Which is impossible) , On Grid System will still be more efficient and cost effective than off grid system and will save energy during day time.
• Further if net metering policy ends, all the good consumers will switch to batteries. This will cause only low quality consumers on the grid and whole system will collapse.
• Our sustainability and environmental goals will fall apart and our export may face sanctions, especially from the EU market.
Most Probable outcome:
• From Reliable resources it is confirmed that Government is devising policies to over come the over production problem form solar, for which net billing is being considered.
• In that case, in day time the home/factory will use solar and excessive energy will be sold to the grid, but the excessive energy will be sold at a flat rate of 7-9 Rs/watt.
• In that case the return on investment of solar will jump from 18 Months to 30 Months approx.
